Bhekendra Kumar Shrestha

Bhekendra Kumar Shrestha, your host at New Solitary Lodge, has spent nearly three decades in the hospitality business. He knows exactly how to please his guests and as a consequence he gets a significant amount of business through referrals and returning customers.
Bhekendra is highly motivated towards communal prosperity and actively participates in community based activities. In his free time he volunteers for the Blind Association by conducting various programs.

As an environmentally aware accommodation provider in Pokhara he has taken action to address several important issues which contribute positively to the long term viability of the Pokhara as a tourist destination and takes pride in the New Solitary Lodge having a "Caring for the destination" rating.

The main area of focus in Caring for the Destination are social:

- Financial support for child education
- Organising and volunteering in free health camps
- Giving priority to indigenous people for wage based employment

Detailed description of the Caring for the Destination Initiative:

Bhekendra believes that it is his social responsibility to help the local people and community by devoting a certain part of his profits and time to them. He finds great solace while volunteering and occasionally organises health camps offering free eye surgery to the poor in association with the Lion's Club of Pokhara.
He believes that education is the foundation of development for society. He has been financially supporting some talented but economically poor students in his region with a fair share of his profits for their education.
The farmers who work on the organic farm owned by the lodge come from indigenous communities of nearby villages. In addition to earning their livelihood, they also get opportunities to learn about newer farming techniques, health, nutrition and sanitation.

If you have some of your own ideas to share with them or just wish to see the works in progress, ask Bhekendra and he will be pleased to do so.
